Our approach
How Not to Buy a Lemon (HNTBAL) aims to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate the website, deliver purchases, provide support, protect the service and meet legal obligations.
The public HNTBAL website currently does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or behavioural-advertising tracking. The Free Guide Preview is intended to be available without requiring an HNTBAL account or email signup.
Information processed when you use the website
HNTBAL is hosted and protected using Cloudflare. Like most website infrastructure, Cloudflare may process technical request and security information when you visit the site. This can include information such as IP address, browser/device information, requested URLs, approximate locale, traffic-routing information, timestamps and security events.
HNTBAL may have access to limited traffic, security or diagnostic information made available through Cloudflare for operating, protecting and troubleshooting the website.
We use this information for purposes such as site delivery, security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and aggregate service improvement—not to build advertising profiles.
Free Guide Preview
The Free Guide Preview is provided as a direct public digital resource. HNTBAL does not currently require you to create an account or provide an email address simply to open or download the preview.
Normal website technical data described above may still be processed when the preview is requested or downloaded.
Purchases and Lemon Squeezy
Purchases of the Complete Used Car Buying Kit are processed through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as Merchant of Record for the current direct checkout.
When you purchase through Lemon Squeezy, Lemon Squeezy may collect information needed to process and administer the transaction, such as your name, email address, billing location, tax information where applicable, payment information and order details.
HNTBAL may receive or be able to view customer and order information made available to the store through Lemon Squeezy, including information such as your name, email address, country or other billing-location information, product purchased, order status, amount, tax/refund information and related order identifiers.
HNTBAL does not receive or store your full payment-card number. Payment processing, applicable transaction taxes, receipts, secure file delivery, refunds and chargebacks for Lemon Squeezy purchases are handled through Lemon Squeezy's systems.
Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy applies when you use its checkout, My Orders or other Lemon Squeezy services.
Customer support
If you contact [email protected], we process the information you choose to include in your message so we can respond to you, investigate a purchase or delivery issue, and maintain appropriate support records.
HNTBAL's current support-email infrastructure uses Cloudflare email services and a private Gmail mailbox. This means support messages and normal email metadata may be processed by Cloudflare and Google as part of sending, routing, receiving and storing those communications.
Please do not send payment-card numbers, banking credentials, passwords, government identity documents or other unnecessary sensitive information by email.
Cookies and similar technologies
HNTBAL does not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or advertising pixels on the public website.
Cloudflare may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary for security, bot management, traffic protection or service operation. If you proceed to Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout or order-access pages, Lemon Squeezy may use cookies and similar technologies under its own policies.
Because third-party service settings and security measures can change, we do not describe the HNTBAL site as completely “cookie-free.”
How we use information
Where applicable, HNTBAL may use information to:
- operate, secure, maintain and troubleshoot the website;
- provide the Free Guide Preview and other requested site content;
- confirm purchases and help with delivery or order-access problems;
- respond to support requests and customer questions;
- review genuine technical, duplicate-charge, refund or product-description issues;
- prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents and misuse of the service;
- maintain necessary business, accounting, dispute and compliance records; and
- understand aggregate service performance and improve HNTBAL.
Who may process information
We do not sell personal information for advertising. Information may be processed or disclosed where reasonably necessary to operate HNTBAL, including through:
- Cloudflare — website hosting/delivery, security and HNTBAL email routing/sending infrastructure;
- Lemon Squeezy — Merchant of Record, checkout, order administration, tax handling, receipts, secure digital delivery, refunds and chargebacks;
- Google/Gmail — the private mailbox used to receive and manage HNTBAL customer-support communications; and
- professional advisers, authorities or other parties where disclosure is reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with law, or protect users and the service.
International processing
HNTBAL serves a global audience and uses service providers with infrastructure and operations in multiple countries. Personal information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live. The relevant provider's own privacy terms and data-protection arrangements apply to its processing.
Data retention
HNTBAL keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including customer support, order administration, fraud/security prevention, dispute handling, accounting and legal obligations.
Third-party providers such as Lemon Squeezy, Cloudflare and Google maintain information according to their own retention policies and legal obligations.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights relating to your personal information, such as rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection, or to complain to a relevant data-protection authority.
For information controlled by HNTBAL, contact [email protected]. We may need enough information to verify the request before acting on it, and some information may need to be retained where required for legitimate legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.
For information processed directly by Lemon Squeezy, Cloudflare or Google in their own capacity, you may also need to use the privacy controls or contact channels provided by that service.
Children
HNTBAL is a used-car buying information service and is not designed as a service directed to children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the public website.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the current service, including HTTPS, Cloudflare security controls and separation of public website assets from paid customer-download files.
No online service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

The HNTBAL website may link to third-party websites and services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this HNTBAL Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the website, checkout, analytics, support infrastructure or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
If HNTBAL later adds analytics, advertising pixels, newsletters, customer accounts or materially different data collection, this policy should be updated before or alongside that change.
